You make some good points, but having been at both ends, challanging to win national competitions and wandering around hopelessly in mid-field, I can tell you that good engines flatter young drivers to the point that real talent can be disguised, this can be in a positive or negative sense for the driver concerned, as the only thing worse than not being competitive, is being competitive on merit and not being given credit for it. Thus the perception of inequality is actually as damaging as the real thing. It doesn't actually matter whether it exists or not, to move forward systems need to be in place that make the whole thing transparently equal. This is the only way to find the true stars of the future.
