Your brakes MIGHT be bad..... but, from driving the 'works' kart with (probably) the SAME brakes, this SHOULD have showed you that they CAN be made to work well!
Now.... old hands amongst us will all be thinking the same..... 'he hasn't set them UP properly'! You know that you need to set-up your chassis, engine, tyres, etc. before each race.... what about you BRAKES?
So... what do you DO with your brakes between uses and HOW are you adjusting them? When was the last time you 'broke the glaze' on the pads and/or on the disk? What is the 'angle' of your master cyclider arm (compared to the cable/rod) and what is the angle of your brake pedal? How much 'throw' do you have before they engage? and.... CRUCIALLY..., in the multiple available holes on the master cyclinder lever and the options on the brake pedal, where have you mounted the cable/rod? Give us the answers and we'll try to help you! Even better, take some detailed pcitures of all of those items (including the 'throw'), post them where we can see them and we'll try to help you!
I'll bet, set up properly, they'll be as good as the works kart's brakes!
