Pete, you say: "From what I can see that’s what the KGP is trying to do is close that gap (to KF) not replace max."
Can you really be that daft? the only thing KGP is trying to do is make money for Birel, just as TKM for TalKo and the Max for Rotax.
The KGP offers nothing new it’s just a Jnr Max, KF Clubman, KF3 variant with sticky tyres.
If it becomes popular then it will suffer all of the same problems other classes face, in terms of expensive rebuild schedules, silly engine prices for that winning engine or carb etc
The bit I don’t understand after all of the musings on this board by the ABkC/MSA indicating that there is a structure and committees of knowledgeable people meticulously planning future changes to the karting regulations and its classes, is that almost before Birel have unpacked the new engines from their boxes KGP has become a Super1 class and is being introduced at various Clubs around the country – can someone explain to me how that can happen?
And indeed if it can happen that way, which it has, why do we need the ABkC/MSA at all?
