If you have better things to do than strip your brakes then what the f*** are you doing in racing? Are you so naive? Two masters and 25 years in engineering are clearly no indication that you know what you are doing and I always find that is true of people who bandy their credentials about like some badge of honour. I have a degree in temperature and protractors but I know bugger all about anything.
