Obviously, this thread is a wind-up.....
As someone who grew-up (as if!) in karting in the days before ANY sort of 'nerf bars' and before the PLAGUE of tupperware bolt-ons and who has watched the change in driving standards these things have created, I can ASSURE you, yourself/your-kids are in MUCH more danger today than we were when we DID NOT HAVE THIS CR*P!
During that same time, we have moved from pudding-basin-helmets and pull-overs with suit-trousers, plain shoes, woollen gloves, etc., right up to the modern armour-plated driver with multiple prosthetic shields. Using YOUR logic, we should be MUCH safer today than we were 'back-then'...... Were MORE people killed in karting when it was a HUGE sport with no tupperware and silly rules.....? Not on your LIFE! I strongly suspect we have lost more in recent years than EVER we did 'way-back-when'! Damn it, the change in HELMETS should have been enough to save significant numbers of lives. It HASN'T!
Why has this happened....? Because the BONKERS tupperware has E*N*C*O*U*R*A*G*E*D appalling driving techniques! When I was a kid, we had EXPOSED rear wheels (no wide bumpoer) and only the VERY brave (or stupid) would attempt the NUDGE at the rear of another kart because the driver in front could EASILY 'dispose' of a repeat offender..... ask Mr Tim Harvey (yes, HIM!) what happened when he tried it, repeatedly, on me in the 1980s at Rye......!
The DISCIPLINE encouraged by the exposed rear wheels REDUCED the risks of injuries as less people were TEMPTED to 'ram'!
So..... unless you are asking for 'Bumper Cars' like the ones used in arrive-and-drive stuff..... you'll stay WELL clear of 'closed wheels'..... and ideally, return to PROPER karts!
Sadly, I suspect that you may WELL get what you want...... and you'll get even MORE injuries becasue of that!
