Alan - just my 2p's worth as a father whos 9yr started middle of this year. I looked at both W60 and Honda's as the 2x local tracks (Camberley & Forest Edge) tend to run both. I wanted something reliable and easy to use (as I'm learning to) as I didn't want to throw money at it from the outset. I ended up buying an old honda cadet on a storm chassis which gave him a good start point to get used to the tracks, speed, etc and have just upgraded to a 09 Project One Honda which should be legal for a good few years. I was told by many people including scruitineers not to get anything older than 2008. On the plus side the Honda doesn't need a £150-£200 rebuild every 10hrs and especially at Forest there's no difference in performance between the Comers and Hondas with a good mix of results. As said before, buy the best your budget can get you, but don't think you'll be mid pack straight away as there is some really big money being spent out there even at Cadet level. I still like to think its more to do with driver skill at this age rather than £££'s
