This is true, some Comer C50's have been tuned. My son is 5 and has a Bambino and has done a couple of non msa time trials.

One thing I have noticed is that when we have been to a track, Rye House, Sutton, Fulbeck, Stretton, which ever track in the country the genuine people who are intrested in the sport love seeing a 5 year old on a kart.

I do think it is sad that people are complaining about noy getting enough track time because of a 5 year old.

I personally do not believe 5 is too young, as long as it is done in the right way, for example when he first got his kart he spend hours in it, up on blocks learning which is the accelorator and which is the brake, then he kart was restricted to nearly walking speed and built up from there. He has all the kit he needed, helmet, gloves, suit, boots, rib protector neck brace.
I would like to compare this to what I saw a litle while ago, I went to a track, in my opinion one of the best tracks in the country, it was our first time there so we got there early spoke to the people running the cadet club, told them he is safe but not the fastest and he went out with no problems. About 10 minutes into the session it was stopped, when I went over there were the parents of a kid about 8/9, they had bought a nice cadet kart of ebay with a Comer W60 on it, they had not signed in, spoken to anyone at the circuit and just put this kid out on the track, the kid had never been in a kart in his life and ended up at the end of the straight crying and burried in the tyres.

The point I am trying to make is that the age isnt really important, its the way you do it to make sure all risk is kept to a minimum.

I do not want to offend anyone but this is just my opinion.
