The “international” element returned to Lydd this past weekend, and in quite some style!
Many thanks go to both Daytona Motorsport and AIM Motorsport for a superbly managed event. Our particular gratitude goes to Daytona’s Phil Stanley and his marshalling staff for their efficient, friendly and helpful input. Without this it would not have been possible to successfully run a total 65 (!) sprint racing laps in the space of a Sunday morning.
A grid of 19 Aixros was a beautiful sight and sound to behold. This total included no fewer than 8 drivers from the continent: 3 from Belgium, 3 from Germany and 2 from Holland.
How’s that for putting the ‘international’ back into (Daytona) Lydd International? From people who should know, I understand that this makes the meeting the most international racing there has been in the UK for quite some time. While I cannot quite believe that, it’s a curious thought – what are the facts in this respect?
Anyway, more details to follow on the AIM Motorsport and other websites. Among other places, high-quality pictures are available here: http://www.karting1.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5361&sid=b0fd98410dba134cd9909b3968946d6f
PS for anyone who has raised this question in the past: One of our visitors from the continent built a twin-Aixro kart for an event at Hockenheim a couple of years ago.
