Petrol doesn't degrade too rapidly if kept in a sealed container. If it's mixed petrol/two-stroke oil then it's probably worth shaking the can a few times before using the fuel [if the can has been static for a while] for peace of mind that the mixture hasn't separated. However, I wouldn't consider the kart's on board fuel tank to se a sealed container as the whole system is probably not so airtight as a petrol can with a good seal.
