yeh was a really good day bein driving standards observer....you can see soooo much from down there....lots going on that you cant see from up on the bank...for instance there was one guy who got 2 warning flags in 2 heats for pushing karts wide into turn 1 at the starts, causing all 2 incidents at the start, he swore blind he didnt touch anyone, in the final he did the same, but got real lucky that the red flags came out for another incident so the race was nul and void.....escaped points on his licence by a slice of luck, if the race had carried on id imagine the book would hav been thrown at him. some other pretty bad driving in other races too...all boils down to being far too impatient and trying to get away with it.....on the other side lots of blummin good driving too, and not all the accidents are intentional, some are just mistakes. either way it was a good day, and hopefully we gave some justice to those who had their races cut short by others driving, its time kart driving standards got cleaned up, having said that theres no point in throwing the book at everyone, kart racing by nature is close and hard, there will be a bit of rubbing here and there, and people do make mistakes, it just needs a balanced view to seperate the genuine mistakes from the downright idiotic...hopefully we managed to do that at the weekend, from the drivers i managed to talk to at the end of the meeting they seemed to be happier.
oh and good to see engine checks going on too!
