You mean the Ackerman Steering Principle ? If so, no the steering column should not be bent. The location and configuration of the track anchor points on the column will be different on an ackerman steering system when compared with a standard one.

If you look at the photo of a steering column here. On an ackerman system you would anchor the track rod ends on the two outter holes - one end on each hole. On a non ackerman system they'd be located together on the center hole.
