twiglet I watched the clip. I'm afraid you don't understand. Regardless of the tragedy of his situation he is a believer. He wants a reason for why it happened and the only reason I could give him, is the improbable happened. He asked us to 'stand for something' . And I do. I stand for objective reasoning. You can't be objective in personal tragedy. You look for reasons and when you can't find them you blame anything you can. God, medicine, yourself, others, society, lack of legislation and a million other things. If he hadn't found a brace, he may well have believed his lack of belief was to blame. He could just have easily been telling us all to prey more. He does actually say at some point to prey for his friend.
One of the things he says is, “his friend had a gash on his helmet and fortunately it stopped, if it hadn't he was gone”. But this is only evidence to say it wasn't necessary because it didn't happen. He wasn't lucky that it stopped, he would have been unlucky if it hadn't.
I'm sorry if I'm not good enough at writing to explain it in a way you would understand. But you are wrong to take what he says as rational.
