It is ALSO correct that:-

1) Despite the fact that EVERY Motor-racing body mandates a specific Helmets ....ONLY South Africa has specified approval for the Leatt (etc.). It seems that not a SINGLE Kart Racing Authority has approved the use of the Leatt etc.

2) The Helmet industry puts THEIR products through HOURS and MILLIONS of pounds worth of INDEPENDENT tests but we have ZERO documentation of INDEPENDENT tests on the neck braces.

3) I can't yet find a GP motor-bike racer who DOES use one (but I am no expert in that field!)

4) When given the chance, Formula 1 authorities did NOT specify a device like the Leatt nor the Valhalla. They specified a device which uses the SEAT BELTS to support the neck and NOT the shoulders, chest or back as used in the Leatt etc..

Having said all this, my MAIN complaint is that EXACTLY the same claims were being made for the Ł27 foam Helmet Support. You'll find similar claims for those on the manufacturer's web sites (e.g., Sparco America) as you do for the Leatt and the Valhalla, etc.. How do YOU K*N*O*W that their claims are any LESS realistic? Where is your PROOF that they ARE different?

I must admit, I do love that part of your claim is that any documentation about the neck braces is SO poor that it can't be used, reliably. Nice proof there!

Again, I have to stress that I am NOT AGAINST neck supports.... They MAY work!

What I am saying is that we do NOT have the PROOF that we NEED to make a reasonable judgement on them. At the moment, we do NOT know if they are any more useful than a chocolate fire guard!
