batteries have a finite number of charges in them so i would think only just charging it before a race weekend would be the best for long battery life.
also NiCad batteries have a sort of charge memory so if you only discharge it to half then reacharge it it will eventualy think that half is as low as it can go and stops working ( google NiCad batery memory if you dont belive me).
so again best to discharge fully before recharging
