Possibly...
Does anyone have statistics on what percentage of non-cadet MSA licence holders race in a Rotax class at club or national level ? Furthermore, could we have these statistics for the past 5 years ? I would hazzard a guess that it would be a very large majority... and a growing majority at that.
Let me add my own 2 cents in here. I don't like the Rotax Max motor nor the idea of a one make racing... in fact its the antithesis of what karting has always been about for me. Over the years I've seen the Rotax classes kill off 100cc ad marginalize all other classes and abort anything new. This hasn't been mandated, its because the majority of competitors have chosen to go this direction. I've reluctantly had to join them or race in poor grids or not at all.
The advantage of a single popular class is that there is parity in terms of competitors across clubs and nationally. If there were just three champions in each club - cadet, junior, senior... and three champions nationally - cadet, junior, senior... it would bring a great deal of coherence to the 'karting system' make these titles highly coveted and valued.
