Nik, perhaps you could qualify your assertion that: "The GPS absolutely isn't accurate enough to compare lines to the level that is needed in racing…"

It would be good if you could point me to a published spec for the M4 GPS which provides the positional accuracy of this particular device. (Not a general article on how accurate GPS is please - there are lots of different systems out there). What do you consider is the level of positional accuracy required for GPS to be of use in racing?

Regarding GPS you say that "Its usually pretty good for one session but comparing different session can be wildy different".

I've been using the M4 GPS on my son's cadet kart for more than a year. Taking our home circuit, Sheni, which we know extremely well – I've used Race Studio Analysis to overlay my son's lines for his 5 fastest laps, taken from different days (dry track). Zooming in and comparing clipping points at different corners there is no more than 0.5m overall variation. Furthermore, if I browse his lap traces more generally I can see no inexplicable, random, position shifts for individual laps, in sessions, on particular days, or across different race weekends. How do you explain this apparent lack of significant variation if GPS "absolutely isn't accurate enough to compare lines"?

Keen amateur luck?
