I can't help thinking that Bernie et al are also responsible for some of this.
Lost count of the number of deadlines Gillett was given and yet everyone knew or had this gut feeling it was never going to happen.
But by giving him more time, the guy spent more and more or should I say he used more and more from other people knowing full well the project was doomed and was never going to make good on what he owed.
So if you are a kart club and get approached to be a small part of that project and you're reading that your customer is given more time, you might just might think we'll carry on with our bit as opposed to "we're never going to get paid"
It's a difficult one because faced with the option of making some money or saying no and letting it go to others - what do you do?
But BE surely knew it was never going to happen and could therefore be seen as culpable in others not getting paid.
Of course, given the debts were in Gillett's name or his companies then BE is untouchable. So that's how to become a billionnaire then or one way!
