"another point missed......you are paying extra entry fees because of the 'TV coverage'...why do you need these onbourd cameras? the TV cameras will be of much better quality so why not use them for the judisials?"
The TV cameras are only ever following one oiece of the action covering maybe 3/4 of 30+ karts at any given time. Although they will film some incidents, they will by definition miss most incidents.... that's a fact from my experience as a cameraman and from editing the footage as a multicam (4-6 camera) edit.
"Motors tv tried this by half way they just said no evidence available anybody off the front 8.They also said we will look into it between rounds due to time."
Errr.... misquoted once again.... I don't ever remember saying that... probably because I didn't say anything remotely like that ever! If you are going to quote me... please be accurate. We did look into incidents both at the circuit, and between rounds, and we did penalise offenders and overturn incorrect decisions made on the day..... following every meeting. In an MSA event there will be a time limit on protests and reviews and that will not be possible. However, If you have evidence from an onboard camera using a card based recording system, that is a quicker method of review than tape, which we used to use. The card can be accessed and reviewed more quickly on a laptop, which I understand will be available at each round with a card reader.
In a sport where failure to penalise contact is one of the biggest gripes from drivers (as evidenced by the often massive threads about the subject on this site) onboard cameras that can be used by drivers to support a complaint/protest has to be a step forward does it not?
My guess is that as an optional purchase, for every person that does not buy one, FOUR people will buy TWO each.... one to show their overtaking moves to friends and family.... facing front... and one to watch their rear and use as evidence m'lord!
Is it still the case you HAVE to buy one... or is this under review in the same way that the TKM TV coverage was withdrawn, and costs reduced?
