If you want to be British Champion then you need to do S1, if tv helps gain sponsorship for a driver then its got to be a good thing. These days reccession or not if you want to compete at the top level, it cost mega bucks. British Superbike Championship for a 15yr old on a 125cc bike in that class cost 150K +, British Motocross Championship 160K+, in both cases you staret out club racing, catch the bug and look for more then end up doing a british championship and spend a fortune. Just like Karting. When I started Karting in 78 it was like one big club race, with everybody helping each other etc etc and all enjoying themselves now Karting has lost that and become this great big money making machine from top to bottom with the small hope that little Jonny makes it to F1 and when you leave Karting and go single seaters it just carries on and on with cost just going up and up. Where does it stop!
