Although I agree that the entry fee increase is a bit high it hardly moves S1 to a competition only for the wealthy. The increase in entry fees is £455 for 7 rounds and I really doubt if that alone would stop anyone entering. To compete in S1 or FKS you are likely to be doing regular club racing as well and the costs add up. In many classes the race costs are minor compared to the costs of equipment especially the prices being paid for engines. Easykart is not a cheap option although it may work out a bit less costly. However, you do have a better chance of racing on a level playing field as there is so little opportunity to use the chequebook to gain advantage - but extra funds can buy more testing with newer tyres, driver coaching and so on.
