Take him to your local track and put him out in their junior hire karts - the best locally for me is Buckmore. Look at their website and you'll see they have karts for just about everyone! Once he has had a taste of a very safe, controlled environment like that, has built his confidence and speed, do as suggested above and put him out in his own kart in a quiet mid-week session if possible. DONT go down the car park route. Not only are you putting your son at risk (especially for his first try when it could go all wrong) but there are also all manner of legal implications these days - even with permission.
