Every minute you have spent will help you... but... like everyone else when they start in 2 stroke outdoor; you WILL be way out of your depth! The level of 'aggression' in the driving will surprise you! Not the 'violence' but the degree by which the competitors are SO much 'closer to the edge' than you will have experienced from your current competitors. In your curent racing, you can make an error and then catcth up. However, in MSA racing, if a mistake drops you back 5 metres, you will REMAIN 5 metres back for the rest of the race.... or until the NEXT error when you'll be back 10 metres. The quick guys are simply avoiding those 5 metre errors and, unless you are a new 'god' or you have a BIZARRELY fast kart, you CANNOT make up that lost 5 metres. It's a painful lesson.... until you have honed your skills to the level of the 'quick guys'.
However, don't be concerned as there will be others who are also novices and/or not as quick as you are and you'll have great FUN learning 'race craft' while wathcing the leaders VANISH off into the distance. Expect to spend your first season moving fromn the rear of the grid to the middle. In the second year, you are more likely to be thinking about 'tangling' with the front half of the grid!
If it was easy, it wouldn't be FUN!
