New tyres are not compulsory for every round and in cadets you could get a couple of meetings out of a set. After that you might be at a bit of a disadvantage as the Vega tyres do not wear as well as the cadet dunlops. It is difficult to be more accurate about this as we did not do extensive testing to see just how long you could be competitive on one set. We did gain a second per lap by switching to new tyres for round 3 but that was against our original set that had done two rounds plus all our testing so probably at least 600 laps. helmet regs - yes, easykart runs under MSA rules and so the same applies. Might be even worse though - if you join and finish in the top 5 then you have the chance to race in the World Finals in Italy (Castelletto this year) and if that race is under CIK regs then you would need the new CMR helmet in 2010. James could have avoided the CMR if we raced only in the UK as he is now in juniors and will be 15 before 01.01.2013 but with the Birel Driver Programme we will have to buy the helmet or miss the opportunity - hope there are some `show offers' this weekend.
