Roadrat I would endorse THR's comments about contacting the MSA directly. There was a posting on here asking if anyone had photos or video of the incident at Rissington so i called John Ryan to let him know that one of the scrutineers, Tom, had taken several photos of the Zip involved. John will be following this up. Last year a couple of us had regular contact with john about the Tryton carbs and the MSA did put a lot of effort into that. John attended some of the stars/S1 rounds and asked people to let him know if they had problems. When they did, John took the carbs to Grant for examination. However, the MSA had more comments from people supporting the Tryton than complaining about it. With the Rissington incident I think the photos will show that it was not a full head-on incident but rather from an angle. As you look at the Zip from the front, the metal support bar for the front bumper on the left hand side was bent and almost touching the accelerator pedal. The nasser panel was bent towards the brake pedal side. It is possible that even if the front of the nose cone had been flat the asccident would have been the same. If we were still in cadets then I would change the Zip nose cone purely because there have been enough incidents for me to believe they may be unsafe but I would be happier using bodywork that has been crash tested.
