We have signed the petition and ordered a new type nose cone, if you have a Zip I would strongly suggest you consider doing the same.
For those parents who run Zip chassis's, I witnessed an accident at Rissy in the final last weekend which caused a red flag and the race to be abandoned after 3 laps. Fortunatly I understand Ethan, Frazer and Ruban are not seriously hurt this time but I can not see how the MSA can let this continue.
In that incident the driver of the Zip came off worst because the Zip nose cone caused the kart that hit him (front on) to ride up over his nassau panel and hit him in the side of the helmet with the nose cone of the kart that hit him. Two of the three drivers were airlifted to hospital but this time were lucky and I understand released later that day. Although none of the karts turned over I am sure the kart would have not have lifted and hit the driver in the head if he had been using an alternative type nose cone.
The thing I find hard to understand is if I use the wrong carb gasket or any other non performance enhancing part I am at risk of being thrown out by the officals however despite numerous reported incidents with this nose cone that also doesn't meet the regs I am fine to race, how can that be right.
Thank you to THR for spending the time to find an alternative part and agree a preferencial price, we have ordered the part and will not race until it is fitted.
