My sources tell me that Ben had to come no lower than 4th and 4th to win the title but came 5th in the pre-final because of some very 'smart driving' by the winner who realising his only chance was to back things up - did so to great effect!
I also believe that an appeal and then an appeal against the outcome of the appeal was lost and in the main final having taken the lead only to lose it again, contact between Ben and RFJ put Ben back. Whether it was for that reason he was excluded don't know.
However what is known is that RFJ won it by a point thereby securing back 2 back Super 1 titles in consecutive seasons; KF2 and then this one.
So a fitting end to his karting career before he goes on to pastures new - i.e. Formula something?
For every winner there are n-1 losers so looks like it wasn't to be Ben's day which is a rare event for him but I'm sure won't hurt his career too much.
