Close to Birmingham, you have Stretton for club racing (4 stroke) and testing, and Priory Park (Lichfield) for testing. They are my regular tracks, tho' I prefer Stretton as thats where I race (Subaru 4/s) and its faster and more challenging than Priory..tho' of course Priory Park is handily close.
Go along, talk to people, watch some racing, have a good think about how much time and money you want to put into it. There's a lot to take onboard....MSA/non MSA, 4/s, 2/s...don't rush into it.
When you think about your budget, it can end up more expensive than you might initially think, whichever way you go. Heres just a few things to think about - kart, trailer/van, racewear & helmet, tools, spares, tyres (wet & slicks) & other consumables, maintenence, repairs & service, race entry fees, travel. Some people go karting as a hobby on a 'shoestring' budget, others take it very, very seriously and commit huge amounts of effort, time and money to it.
