tryin to think of your local track....ur slap bang in between loads of them. first off birmingham wheels is near to you, while they dont hold msa racing i think they do non msa racing there still...youl have to check. other than that the msa tracks you can race at are
Rissington - 55 miles away Shennington - 65 miles away Stretton - 45 miles away Whilton Mill - 55 miles away Priory Park - 20 miles away
now i think that priory and stretton also do non msa racing too, and you can also test there, assuming that you want to do msa racing then rissington shennington and whilton mill are your choices.
you really have 3 choices class wise, tkm, formula blue and rotax, rotax is expensive, blue less so, tkm is the cheapest, and the one id go for your in luck with those 3 tracks because all of them have good tkm extreme grids.
when you have chosen your class, go and look on the classifieds section of this website, there are lots for sale, make sure though that the kart is within msa rules. i reckon for a good second hand tkm package your looking at between 600-1000 for all the kit you will need, for a blue or rotax, your looking at between 2-4k. you will need a trailer, or you can attach your kart to the roofrack, and a good tool kit. also you will need racewear, boots, gloves, helmet, suit. make sure they are within the spec, especially the helmet with the regs changing at the end of the year.
if i were you id buy an arks pack, its useful and has loads of info on karting in it. then when you have bought everything get out there and test, its usually about 40 quid for a days testing. when you feel your ready take your arks test, and then get out there racing.
