That's pretty much the lap I have in my head, with a couple of good refinements.
I'll definitely incorporate these tips into my driving next time out.
My first time at this circuit was also my first in outdoor karting. I peaked at 1:15.5, mind you... I was in traffic most of the time and every other second there were yellows due to other people's incidents. I always braked far too early for 2. And I lost far too much apex speed on 4, 5 & 6 (still probably my biggest downfall). I always managed to screw up 8 by going in too deep and several times I found myself staring at those tyres on the exit and bogging right down on exit speed :P
Before going out last time I viewed a rotax test on youtube and studied the line they took.
Luckily this time I had much less traffic to deal with and far few interruptions. I was pleased to be able to learn the circuit with less distraction.
The youtube rotax revision paid dividends especially at 6 where I learnt to take a late entry, and also like you say to hug the inside at 9.
In general I had much more confidence all round, I was braking later and later for 2, and hence taking up more of the concrete apex. I used all of the available exit and then some at 3 sometimes getting the left wheels on the dirt.
It took me a while to reign in my enthusiasm at 4 and force myself to brake earlier, I never got the apex quite right and always lost momentum here. This will be one of my main focus areas for next time, and the same with 5, I definitely need to sort out my entry because I'm getting drifter style oversteer on the exit. I actually spun onto the grass once.
6 is one of my favourite corners as it's a big adrenaline rush. I'm sure I could tidy up my technique here but I actually think there's less time to gain here, it's a bit like Eau Rouge and 130R. Big Balls corners but a doddle when you know the line.
Thanks for the tip at 7, I'm definitely losing buckets of time here, usually because I've been hesitant on getting back on the throttle and/or missing the apex slightly.
I worked hard on 8 and am pretty pleased, as I managed to reigned myself in and brake much earlier, then gradually worked back upto the limit. I still brake as late as I dare but in a controlled manner and am able to get back on the throttle well before the apex whilst maximising the wide of the track.
I can work on getting 9 smoother. I'll try getting tighter to the inside, I've done this corner flat plenty of times but nearly always got buckets of oversteer on the exit which kind of screws you up in braking for 10.
My way of compromising was having a comfort lift just after the apex and stabbing at the throttle until through the exit and the kart is straight after which I used heavy cadence braking to get slowed down for 10, this felt quite effective. It definitely felt more comfortable with each passing lap.
I was beginning to flick it in earlier and earlier for 11 as well, it was feeling better with each passing lap but I was definitely still too lively there and spending a little too much time going sideways.
I shall definitely bear all this in mind for next time. Thanks again, I really appreciate it!
