The best and easiest way I have found is to fully dismantle the exhaust, taking off any alloy or chrome components, then suspend the exhaust in a steel tank, and add a 5-10 lts of diesel (depending on how coked up it is, you may need to repeat this process !) After it has burnt out, give it a good wash out with a pressure washer or hose pipe I then clean the chrome end can with a good quality traffic film remover! Reassemble the exhaust the buff up with some WD40, wire wool or wet and dry (to get rid of any red discoloration) and then coat with WD40. This process takes me around 60 min start to finnish. I find this method a lot easier and less messy, compared to using caustic soda!! Don't forget to use safty equipment at all times !
