the increase in cadet kart lap times is also part of the problem!

The year prior to getting my son into cadet's (2007) I went to the O plate just to see some action. I was very impressed with the speed then. Two years on however lap times have reduced by around 1.5 seconds which means mid pack drivers are lapping at the same speeds that the 2006/2007 champions where doing.

I have also noticed that there can be a hugh disparity in speed irrespective of driver experience. Some new drivers can pay to get very good engines right away or are run by a team so can run higher up the grid than their experience deserves. This leaves more experienced drivers with less engine grunt frustrated and more likely to over drive. What part do these factors play in the spat of recent accidents?

There is a hell of a lot more wrong with cadet karting than just the zip nose cone. It's time for a complete review and hopefully a new and safer direction.
