I reckon the choice is a combination of what the driver prefers and the carb set-up. You know what Michael can do - in Juniors we used the 12.5 without exception, because he was able to drive it. I have tried several times to get him back on it in Seniors, but the fact is he prefers (and is faster) on the 8.5. He also (in general) prefers K98/30's.
Try experimenting with bowl richness - start with the arms level then bend them towards the top of the carb - you'll have no shortage of advice and helpers at Rye!! Then once you find a good setting, try to leave it alone, just clean it (spotless) every time. But remember, you should test, test, test and listen to Andrew because he will feel what's best even if it's no quicker!
