ive put forward my views to the msa onboth the helmet regs and the zip nosecone.

ive seen first hand 3 times the ramp effect of it and my son has been involved in one of them.

at pfi believe it or not on the hairpin a kart spun, infront of him and luckily my lad wasnt goning as quick as the other lad( due to lack of experiance). he was lucky and only ended up mounting the kart, not flipping. unfortunatley the other lad ended up with 99kg off kart resting on his head as my lads kart was stuck on top of him. fact! if it wernt for the slow speed i have no dought he would have just driven over the top of the lad completly, instead he just drove up the front of the ZIP like a ramp.

ive aslo seen the zip hit a kart side on and again, luckily not going to fast but enough to lift it onto its side! if it was any more of an impact it proberbly would have fipped it over completly....now then....

my lad had exactly the same bump with a novice at rowrah but was going alot quicker, the lad spun on the corner before the straight leaving my lad with nowhere to go and hit him side on and just bounched of the lad (alought with a lot of force)

but his kart didnt lift "BECAUSE" the flat nosecones do not provide a surface that can get under bodywork or rear bumper and lift other karts like a forklift! fact!

as for the helmet regs after reading the proposals im now split with this one. what they want to do is desing a helmet specifically for youngsters ie. not a shrunken down version of an adults helmet but actually given shape and sze for youngsters, and reduce the weight which is a good thing!
you can still have a restricted view visor rather than the large appature visor as previously though as they are making both.
the only thing i see as a problem is that i have just bought, as have many others and had it painted at great cost a helmet which is perfectly upto the job and am now only going to be able to use it for another year.

what they should do is allow the use of existing helmets and introduce the newones along side. if the new helmets were reasonably priced than anyone entering the sport would go out and buy one rather than the more expensive helmet but thats just not going to be the case. as they want to have their cake and eat it, from what i understand the new helmets are more expensive than the sk5.
