1. Check out what runs locally, you want good grids.
2. 4 stroke cheaper than 2 (and some to be competative)
3. Talk to the local circuit/shop, other dads/teams.
4. Talk to the likes of Project One, The kart shop at Buckmore (and other such shops), Zip etc.
5. DO the Homework!

Oh and consider your drivers weight!
