gosh - that's harsh - I wonder if you have ever stood on a Marshal post? Most drivers haven't and have no idea how hard it is to se everything when it happens so quickly. In that incident a waved yellow went out straight away on the nearest post and a static yellow at the esses to warn other drivers . A marshal then requested to the clerk that a red flag be issued -a marshall cannot make that decision - we then have to wait for the clerk to say " yes red flag " before they are displayed all around the track .So it may seem like an inordinate delay but that is the procedure as requested in the marshalls briefing that took place after drivers briefing . A marshall cannot move from their post to help as they then put themselves at risk and the MSA will not insure them - look what happened to that JTKM pusher who ran on the track in front of a kart that was still racing to push a stalled kart !!He was lucky not to be killed . I stood out on that track for seven hours with full concentration, one pee break and an 10 minute lunch break ( no lunch because I hate those greasy burgers ) and two small bottles of water all day. As an experienced marshal I spent quite a bit of time letting the clerk and Bob know what was going on on the track and prompting the other less experienced marshals.Marshalls can only report on track incidents things it is then up to the officials of the day- I cannot insist they do anything only report it . There was also a very experienced driving standards observer out on track all day making the calls for warning flags . There is always a delay for a warning flag depending where the karts are on the circuit when the offence is spotted and the warning given may have been for a different incident than the one you saw which you may have thought deserved a warning We were at the track all day despite not having a driver competing simply to make sure the meeting could run for you and all the other competitors - well cheers mate because I think you have just made my mind up that I won't bother volunteering to have you tell us we are useless.
