It depends on whether its covered by the Road Traffic Act. I believe supermarket car parks are... meaning you need to comply with the law [including insurance] when you're in them. In terms of a circuit stuff I mentioned above... the consequences would mean that if you had your vehicle stolen or damaged while it was at the track, you wouldn't get a penny from the insurance company. Furthermore, if you caused damage to another vehicle, or worse still injured somebody... you would be personally liable yourself. The whole thing is very dodgy indeed.
