"for the record i am far to old for racing "
For the record, how old is that?
In Formula Blue at a recent NKRA regional, the 10th placed driver was celebrating his 60th birthday.
At the '0' plate, the 3rd driver over the line was a Master, meaning he is at least 45; first over the line was a current Super1 driver, second a past MSA British Junior Champion. Even number 10 (only 8 seconds adrift in a 15 lap race) was a Veteran, over 50.
A new novice, just bought kart and engine, is 52.
Sheer speed isn't all there is to driving either, all the classes take a similar amount of expertise to drive well and they all have different handling characteristics, though I might agree with you that it is easier to make a more powerful engine (KF) go faster than a less powerful engine (Max?) because with the extra power you aren't having to drive quite so precisely.
But the important thing is to be having fun, as you say.
