By old you mean worn rather than age I suppose as I found the W2's go off mighty fast!
Had some just under 12 months old, kept in the warm over the winter, done only about 5 heat cycles in plenty of water and still had lots of tread but couldn't get any heat in them, no grip what-so-ever, whatever pressures.
They did work when new.
