Bleeding brakes on an Intrepid

And I'm not swearing.

When inserting the brake bleding tool into the resevoir, opening the valve and the brake bleed valve (on the caliper) - the forum says gravity should force the air out of the system.

If gravity is not enough apart from putting yer mouth over and blowing can you gently press the brake pedal down ?
