Some of the bests starts I have seen have been slow, where the pole man saw it as an advantage on that occasion, although this does rely on the Starter or Judge of Fact to call a false start if P2 crosses the line first, something which happens all too often. They do not want to call restarts because of time constraints (trying to fit too much into the day) instead opting for penalties.

At PF last week all starts had 2 warm up laps to discourage the need for pre-race engine revving in parc ferme. This may have had a beneficial effects on race starts - opinions? However, the starts were quite quick on the whole.

Perhaps the design of some tracks will always lead to 1st corner problems. Some have experimented with speed traps with a visual display for the front row but don't know how these have performed.
