Ross - is this what you were trying to ask me about on the grid on Sunday? I didn't understand what you were asking as teh engines were running and we both had helmets on.
You should try to borrow a spare senor lead from someone. Itpro's suggestion of the magnet on the senor is the quickest test, however, start with the cheap things first. New senor isn't cheap - a lead (by comparison) is. I also have spare batteries.
Next time can I suggest you ask in the paddock when we can both hear and have time to look at what might be the problem.
The units themselves are very robust - mine is now 7 years old and although I have replaced the leads and sensors over the years it still works fine despite getting soaked regularly at WL!!
I would also avoid ebay!
