I don't see that you have mentioned HOW you test it! Have you tried 'wiping' a magnet across the underside of the floor tray directly below the sensor? That's all that is happening when you drive round the track. The 'magnet' is in the TRACK... not the sensor! Passing a fridge magnet under the floor tray can simulate this. A proper magnet (kid's toy) is better at the job.
