For many reasons:-

1) It's HIGHLY unlikely that the Snell test would ALLOW a helmet with INSUFFICIENT side protection to pass the tests.

2) Try a Simpson helmet! They 'move' in the BREEZE but I have been wearing one for the past (almost) 25 years and I have been involved in two HUGE shunts in that time while wearing them (including being trapped under a sliding kart with the engine running and resting on the SIDE of my helmet as I slid along!) No head injuries occured in EITHER accident! I will NOT be changing makes to a 'stiffer' helmet!

3) There is plenty of evidence that more flexible helmets are SAFER than widly rigid one! There is a strong case made by at least one 'safety review' that the POLYCARBONATE (plastic) cheap helmets are BETTER in 'kart track' accidents than are the others which are made for more 'aggressive' environments such as F1 cars, motor cycles and road races and, consequently, the stiffer ones MIGHT be LESS safe... for us!

4) Suggesting that ANY make of helmet is NOT safe might well bring the wrath of their legal department upon you......
