Alan, when you say 'slightly compressible' does this mean it is not a pure liquid, or is it something to do with polymers?

As an aside did you mean "hygroscopic"? I've not heard of "hydroscopic" - perhaps it's an old Newtonian word, not that you would remember it of course!
