The choice is your, of course.

Just be careful that you don't make the wrong assumption.

Common sense (which is what you are using) would imply that bike helmets can only do GOOD! However, that is NOT what the evidence is showing!

So strong is that evidence that I had to consider if it WAS safer for me to wear a helmet! Having read the evidence that I can find, I am really NOT sure I make things safer by using one!

There is plenty of evidence to say that Seat Belts and Air Bags do 'good' but when that evidence is NOT available for a product, be careful about your choice.

The point of my reply is to say that it is NOT yet 'clear cut'.
