Exactly, the only time you can injure yourself with the sprocket and chain is when it is being serviced, to service them the chain guard has been removed, thus rendering the chain guard completely redundant. The old strip design was good for fifty years, what changed?
Blame the CIK for these silly bolt on parts, I suspect the MSA are just falling inline with international regulations.
Why is being excluded for deliberately driving off the track to gain a time advantage a joke? Yes taking a kerb is a skill as is any other form of rule bending, you only think it’s acceptable because drivers have been allowed to get away with it generally unpunished in recent times.
Enforcing the white line rule increases the emphasis on driving skill rather giving the advantage to drivers with the budget to replace kart and components worn by kerbing. Other than enforcing the rules, use kerb design like at Three Sisters that are too big to take, but not so sharp as to cause damage if hit by accident.
Just because F1 does it, does not mean karting should.
