The karting business in the UK needs to buck up its ideas if it's going to make a decent amount of money. All they have managed to get added recently is a new carb in Cadets and a poxy disc protector.
They should take a lesson from the French, next year alone they are for no good reason changing the entire Ignition system on the TAG Minime/Cadets (like Minimax), cost about £400 for each kart. They are also making plastic rear bumpers obligatory for every class, cost about £120 each. Every year similar changes are made just to line the pockets of Sodi and Alpha karting who effectively run karting here.
However we already have the disc protectors here, they do an effective job of protecting the disc. Usually they are made of nylon and you might, if you tried really hard, get through one in a really long season. Never seen one break, if it did, you know for sure you've saved the cost and hassle of a new disc. In the context of all the other kart costs this is a complete irrelevence, keep it in perspective.
