I'm with Dan on this.
One of the best things about karting is that it is competitive. That means competitors try to gain an advantage over each other. They 'cut' the corners, we all do it, and its the same for everyone. It does not matter what the rules say about keeping between the white lines because that rule is not enforcable.

Track builders have a tricky task, to design the curbs and run off areas so that no advantage is gained by using them, and they are not dangerous or damaging to karts. If they can do that no competitors would go over the white line on purpose.

I do not understand the MSA's design intent of the disc protector. Should it prevent the disc shattering if it strikes a curb? Should it stop you cutting corners because it will be pushed up against the disc? The disc shattering is not a problem is it? I have broken 2 discs in 10 years.

I am concerned about the disc protector getting knocked off the kart infront and it hitting me. I am concerned that the protector on my kart will get knocked up into the disc.

What are the rules on the protectors themself, can you make your own? If so it will make mine as strong as possible so that it cannot be knocked off or bent up. And use the curbs as required.
