Interesting, of course, 'all the gear, no idea' types exist in all sports.
But seems to me it's something about Cadets that's different. Is the chance of a fantastic driver being 'spotted' real or imagined? If it exists at all is it likely that even a brilliant driver on c**p equipment running around mid field is going to make any impact? And so the mega bucks is spent, just on the off chance of being 'spotted'.
Every level of motorsport has to have plenty of people who are prepared to race without ever really having much chance of more than the odd podium, at best. But as somebody currently use to lots of high profile success, I currently have difficulty reconciling myself to this future.
It feels almost like a bridge that has to be crossed, I'm realistic enough to accept the fact that the chances of being spotted and funded are tiny, but still cling to the hope. Maybe that hope will only finally disappear when I'm skint?????
