Re the comments on the Clerk at Rye House - personally, I think that we experienced karters should give some thought to the difficulties of handling a meeting like the London Cup in which the weather was pretty bad & they were still trying to pack in the maximum amount of racing....15 minute finals - long races that led to more of the art of proper racing to be displayed as opposed to 8 laps of crash bang whallop.

The clerks were trying to avoid the nanny state & just penalise the obvious deliberate bad moves rather than the cockups that were happening all over the track in the wet conditions. With guys like Alan Bryant there, they knew more or less who were the people 'with a lot of previous...'

Also, I think that experienced karters need to give some strong advice to the parents of some of the younger karters who take up vast amounts of the clerk's time with crazy & stupid bitchiness. The biased & unbalanced approach of some of the cadet & minimax parents is frankly pathetic, & they almost brought some classes to a grinding halt. Whereas, with age & experience most karters either learn to just get on with racing...or to get out of kitchen because it is too hot.

Rye House is an essential feeder circuit into the sport - but we all need to keep the lid on some of these parents who dream of becoming millionaires because 'Little Jimmy' is the next Lewis Hamilton, & anything that gets in his way has got to be steam rollered !
